Solar hydroponics transplanting and harvesting by Chong Boon Sec
Ever thought of growing and harvesting your own spinach? 15 seniors from COMNET Senior Service had the opportunity to experience this exact process in February!
Organised by and held at Chong Boon Secondary School, the teachers gave our seniors a short introduction on the hydroponics process during the first session on February 8 (Wednesday). Later, the seniors tried their hands at transplanting the spinach seedlings to a styrofoam board. With the help of students, they worked hand-in-hand to transfer the styrofoam board onto a water bed.
Two weeks later, on February 22 (Wednesday), the 15 seniors returned to the school and began the process of harvesting their own spinaches. The proud beams on their faces when our seniors witnessed the healthy growth of their plants touched the hearts of everyone present. The seniors later harvested the plants and brought them home, where they could taste the fresh vegetables of their labour!
Thank you Chong Boon Secondary School for organising such a meaningful activity for our seniors!
