50plus 2017 – I’m IN!
Organised by Council for Third Age (C3A), 50plus 2017 is the largest and most comprehensive event for baby boomers and seniors in Singapore.
Held from March 24 (Friday) to March 26 (Sunday) at Suntec City Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, 50plus 2017 eventgoers were invited to participate in educational forums that covered a range of topics such as understanding dementia and volunteerism, as well as pick up new skills and courses to advance their active ageing and lifelong learning journey.
COMNET Senior Service under AMKFSC was invited to set up a booth at the event, where they aimed to recruit volunteers and promote their various services including Community Resource Engagement and Support Team (CREST).
Through interactive and engaging games, visitors to the stall learned to identify seniors with symptoms of dementia, and picked up activities that they can do to lower the risk of dementia. Goodie bags consisting of food of healthier choices were also given out to seniors, who had answered questions correctly.
The outreach event not only saw caregivers of people with dementia stepping forward to share their experiences of taking care of their wards with the COMNET staff, it also gave participants, who are keen to volunteer, a channel where they could register their interest in volunteering.
Good job to our COMNET staff and everyone who came down to help!
