COMNET seniors experience planting at Bollywood Veggies
On June 30, 2017 (Friday), more than 45 volunteers from Standard Chartered (StanChart) took seniors from COMNET Senior Service under AMKFSC out on a trip to Bollywood veggies, where they toured the vegetable farm and learned about the uses and health benefits of plants. The seniors even tried their hands at planting some.
Armed with umbrellas, the thoughtful volunteers were prepared to shelter the seniors from the blistering sun. However, the hot weather ultimately wore a couple of them down. For example, the volunteers hurried to get a wheelchair for one lady. It was also heartwarming to see a volunteer massaged the leg of a tired senior, who was so touched by the gesture that she cried.
“It reminded me of the family bonding sessions from young,” the senior shared.
During tea break, the StanChart volunteers served the seniors banana cakes, which was well-received as they were not too sweet. At the end of the day, the seniors brought home the plants that they had personally potted, and looked forward to more of such outings.
