Community that Gives Together Stays Together
On April 28, 2018 (Saturday), AMKFSC hosted about 40 stakeholders in Punggol at our Integrated Services Centre @ Punggol to discuss on concerns and observations of rising mental health issues among Punggol residents.
Dr Janil Puthucheary, MP of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, graced the event, and spoke to representatives from the Agency of Integrated Care, Institute of Mental Health, Social Service Office @ Punggol, Sengkang Health, People’s Association, as well as general practitioners, school counsellors and staff members from AMKFSC.
MindCare, AMKFSC’s community mental health team, together with Punggol FSC, had observed a trend of rising mental health cases in Punggol, and therefore called for a dialogue session with their partners to understand if their partners have seen a similar trend. The dialogue also discussed the possibility of collaboration between the various stakeholders, so as to build a strong social safety net for the residents in Punggol.
After the dialogue, participants were divided into three groups to discuss inter-professional collaborative possibilities between health care and social care, outreach and engagement for residents with mental health concerns, and engaging youths with mental health issues.
