Fun creation moment with NurtureStars @ SAFRA Punggol
With terrarium-making all the rage these days, how do you make a terrarium that stands out? For the K-2 children at NurtureStars @ SAFRA Punggol, it was adding their favourite toy into the project.
On June 29, 2018 (Friday), 22 children, together with four staff members and 10 parent volunteers, took part in an intergenerational programme with 19 senior participants at the Senior Activity Hub @ Block 677B. This activity is part of an on-going collaborative community project between MindCare under AMKFSC and NurtureStars @ SAFRA Punggol.
During the activity, each senior was paired with a child, who interacted and engaged the senior through facilitation by the teachers and parents. Each senior-child pair was also given a terrarium-making pack which included packets of pebbles, sand, coloured stones and succulents.
The NurtureStars children guided the seniors on creating beautiful terrariums with recyclable materials. Their enthusiasm was so infectious that our seniors participated in the activity with equal interest. The activity was made extra special, when the children placed a favourite toy as part of the decoration in the terrarium, which the seniors were delighted to bring home.
Thank you NurtureStars @ SAFRA Punggol for giving our seniors such an enjoyable time!
