Back to the good 'ol days at Kampung COMNET
COMNET Senior Service under AMKFSC celebrated the official opening of their new services – Cluster Support for North East, Senior Activity Centre @ Rivervale Crescent and Senior Group Home – at the void deck of Block 182 Rivervale Crescent on July 7, 2018 (Saturday).
A/Prof Ang Seng Bin, Chairman of AMKFSC, welcomed Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transport, who graced the event as Guest-of-Honour, together with Mr Charles Chong, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament and Advisor for Punggol East.
Themed ‘Kampung COMNET’, the event brought back games from the good 'ol days and hoped to showcase that the seniors are not only passive recipients of our services, but also active participants. For example, participants from the programme Fun Fair on Wheels spent more than eight weeks conceptualising, planning and creating the props at the game booths.
Two seniors from the senior activity centres in Ang Mo Kio and Sin Ming also hosted the event, perfectly in sync with each other, despite having only rehearsed three times together. COMNET’s very own dance groups OTAI (short form for ‘old-timers’) and Chilli Cha Cha wowed the audience with their slick dance moves, while acapella group SilverSparks charmed with their rendition of ‘Nan Ping Wan Zhong’.
Event-goers also had a wonderful time at the various game booths, and some even took the opportunity to take a photo with their loved ones at the photo booth manned by our kids from the Achieving Kids and Kin programme!
