Spright Academy (Ang Mo Kio) at Cha-Ching Programme
Cha-Ching! Earn, Save, Spend and Donate! Our children from Spright Academy (Ang Mo Kio) had the wonderful opportunity to attend Cha-Ching, a financial literacy programme that helps children learn about fundamental money management concepts.
The programme, developed by Prudence Foundation (the community investment arm of Prudential Corporation Asia) in partnership with Cartoon Network Asia and Children’s Educational Specialist, Dr. Alice Wilder, makes use of an engaging musical narrative approach to teach children about four main fundamental money management concepts: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate. It utilises leading practices in learning theory to aid children in absorbing four concepts: songs as mnemonics; repetition as the key to mastery; age-appropriate, relevant, contextualised real-life scenarios; narratives as a hook, as well as motivation and strategies that empower children to say, “I know what to do now!”
Accompanying the children and joining in the fun were volunteers from Prudential Singapore (Prudential), who conducted a range of activities including a board game for the children. The game helped to reinforce the four fundamental money management concepts and highlighted how the programme empowers children to manage their finances better.
“The board game is fun and I learnt to save money!” exclaimed Aminah*.
We are grateful to the volunteers from Prudential for teaching the children money-smart skills! We look forward to many more of such meaningful collaborations in future!
