Youth Infinity on regional platform!
One of our services, Youth Infinity was invited by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in three events - Conversations on Youth (COY), “A STEP Forward ASEAN Conference” and the Hosting of 11 ASEAN delegates and 3 MSF representatives at our Integrated Service Centre from 9 to 11 September this year.
The COY is a symposium to bring together school leaders, teachers in charge of student discipline, social and youth workers, law enforcement officers and participants from the organising ministries for a dialogue on youth delinquency and offending. The COY event took place on 9 September 2019 (Monday) where our staff did a booth presentation about our services at Youth Infinity as well as a dialogue with Minister of Social and Family Development, Mr Desmond Lee to discuss about the current youth trends and issues.
On 10 September 2019 (Tuesday), our staff facilitated a breakout session at the “A STEP forward ASEAN Conference”. The conference shared the best practices in the management of youths at risk of offending and the rehabilitation of youth offenders. YI presented on using a different lens to understand youth substance abuse in relation to mental well-being. There were also dialogues with fellow attendees to understand more about the evolving changes in youth trends and risks.
Finally, it was on 11 September 2019 (Wednesday) that we hosted 11 ASEAN delegates and 3 MSF representatives at our Integrated Service Centre aimed to create a better understanding of youth issues in Singapore. We facilitated an experiential activity by using a theatrical format to showcase the daily life of a youth worker who deals with the diversionary Integrated Service Provider (ISP) work. Three of our ex-clients from our ISP programmes also shared about their life stories and how they saw themselves changing for the better as they undergo the ISP programmes.
