Find out how Johnny channels his energy into helping others, and about his dreams of being a travel vlogger.
“Hi, I’m Johnny, and I’m 9 this year!
When I first came to Spright Academy, I always got angry at my classmates, and would even bang my head on the table. I just didn't know how to deal with my anger. My teachers taught me ways to calm myself down easily when I get mad. It’s been awhile since I got into a fight, actually!
At home, I’ve become a lot more helpful too. My mom takes care of us herself, but she calls me “mummy’s little helper” for always looking after my younger brother!
I don’t know why, but I like helping others. I always help my friends at Spright Academy with their work, and… psst, a little secret: I help distribute food for the Family Service Centre! It’s a great way to meet new people.
Maybe I’m inspired by the travel videos I watch online. I learnt that there’s so much that life can offer, regardless of where you are or come from, and that some people have so little but stay positive in life.
I know there are lots of people out there who don’t have enough, so I hope that one day I can become a successful travel vlogger and help more people out the in the world!
For now, I gotta finish school first. At Spright Academy, we participate in KidsExcel, where tutors guide us on our studies one-to-one. Our study groups are small and we revise a lot, so I find myself doing a lot better in school.
But now it’s all virtual, and I really miss face-to-face learning. I can’t wait for the day that we can all come together in class again! ”
#KidsTell is a series where we invite our Spright Academy students to tell us about their challenges, strengths, and dreams in their own words. Have a read and you might even learn a thing or two from our #KidsTheseDays!
